VALENCIA â€¢ Valencia coach Marcelino has started the mind games by saying Arsenal are "the favourites" in their Europa League semi-final next month.
The Spanish team, owned by Singaporean billionaire Peter Lim, eased into the Europe's second-tier club competition for the first time in five years - a 2-0 home win over fellow LaLiga side Villarreal on Thursday giving them a resounding 5-1 aggregate scoreline.
Toni Lato and Dani Parejo scored the goals that secured the victory and set up a meeting with Arsenal and Valencia's former coach Unai Emery after the London side won 1-0 at Napoli and 3-0 on aggregate.
Full-back Lato strolled into a gaping hole in defence to volley Valencia in front in the 13th minute at a rain-swept Mestalla to settle the home side, who enjoyed a 3-1 win at Villarreal in the first leg.
The lead was doubled early in the second half with a free kick by captain Parejo, which took a deflection off defender Ramiro Funes Mori.
The only disappointment for Marcelino's side is that their former Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin is suspended for the first leg at the Emirates Stadium on May 2 after a late booking for handball.

"We are very excited about the prospect of reaching another final in our centenary year," said Marcelino, whose side will play Barcelona in the King's Cup final on May 25.
"Arsenal have great players and a coach who knows us perfectly well, so they are one of the favourites.
"But, in a semi-final, anything can happen. Perhaps they will be under a bigger obligation to win than us, but we have the same excitement."
Emery coached Valencia between 2008 and 2012, securing three top-three finishes in a row.
He later eliminated Valencia in the 2014 Europa League semi-finals when in charge of Sevilla, who edged into the final on away goals after snatching a 3-3 aggregate draw with a stoppage-time goal.
Valencia striker Santi Mina added: "Arsenal are a very difficult side, but we are Valencia and we can compete with anybody.
"We've already reached the King's Cup final... and we want to give the fans something more to shout about."

BARCELONA (REUTERS) - Barcelona will try to dominate Manchester United in the Champions League quarter-final second leg on Tuesday (April 16), according to goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

LONDON â€¢ Footballer Emiliano Sala's family were left to grieve yesterday after British authorities formally identified the Argentinian's body as the one recovered from the submerged wreckage of a plane that went down in the English Channel more than two weeks ago.
"We can now begin to mourn our son and our brother," the 28-year-old Cardiff City striker's family said in a statement.
"We would like to thank you for all of your signs of affection and support in the most painful time of our life. To see everyone doing everything possible to join us in the search has been precious help to us."
The Premier League player's former French club, Nantes, said it was withdrawing the jersey with Sala's number 9 on it and all Ligue One and Two matches in France this weekend will be preceded by a minute of applause for him.
The light aircraft was carrying the Â£15 million (S$26.3 million) club-record signing from Nantes to Cardiff when it disappeared near the island of Guernsey, along with 59-year-old pilot David Ibbotson, whose body has not been found.
Sala's disappearance had sparked an outpouring of grief and a flood of cash to support a private hunt for the plane when the official search was initially called off on Jan 24.
Sala's body was first spotted by British rescuers using a remotely operated underwater vehicle on Sunday, close to where the plane vanished from radar on Jan 21.
Investigators recovered the body on Wednesday but said they were abandoning plans to lift the plane wreck out of the water because of bad weather. However, British police said that an investigation into the circumstances of his death was continuing.
"I am very sorry about this sad news. Many of us kept a glimmer of hope for you, Emiliano," Argentina legend Diego Maradona said on Instagram. "What sadness, this is the worst news. Rest in peace warrior," tweeted retired Argentinian football star Gabriel Batistuta.
Argentina President Mauricio Macri also offered his condolences to Sala's family, saying: "We are with you."
There was also an outpouring of grief from fellow players. Manchester City's Ilkay Gundogan and Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain had been among the 4,829 people who contributed to a crowdfunding campaign which paved the way for the private search.

Jeff Hendrick gave Burnley an early lead before goals from N'Golo Kante and Gonzalo Higuain put the home side ahead by the 14th minute. However, the Londoners failed to hold on to the lead as Ashley Barnes drew the visitors level 10 minutes later.
After Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Arsenal all lost at the weekend, Chelsea had an opportunity to tighten their grip on the Premier League's top four places.
But it was Burnley - seeking to avoid being sucked back into the relegation fight - who struck first when Hendrick volleyed home in the eighth minute after a headed clearance found him in space on the edge of the penalty area.
Chelsea hit back with two goals in two minutes. First, winger Eden Hazard bamboozled Burnley's defence before cutting the ball back for Kante to sweep home. Then Higuain blasted a shot in off the underside of the crossbar in the 14th minute.
Ten minutes later, Burnley were level again when Barnes evaded his marker at the back post to connect with a headed flick-on from Chris Wood.
After the end-to-end drama of the first 45 minutes, Chelsea dominated possession in the second half but failed to break down Burnley's defence.
The draw pushed Chelsea up a place into fourth spot in the Premier League, level on points with third-placed Spurs and one point ahead of Arsenal, both of whom have a played a game less.
Burnley remained 15th are nine points clear of the relegation zone with three games left to play.

Espanyol took the lead right before halftime when Atletico captain Diego Godin slid the ball into his own net as he scrambled to clear a cross from 20-year-old left back Adria Pedrosa, who had burst forward from his own area on the break.
The Catalans' top scorer Borja Iglesias doubled the home side's lead early in the second half as they again pounced on the counterattack after an Atletico giveaway, with the striker calmly tucking the ball past Jan Oblak from inside the box.
Espanyol missed several chances to score again but Iglesias deepened Atletico's humiliation by converting from the penalty spot in the 89th minute and also completing his side's biggest league win of the campaign.
Atletico, who have now lost six times this season, are second in the standings on 74 points after 36 matches, nine behind champions Barcelona who play at Celta Vigo later on Saturday, and nine ahead of Real, who host Villarreal on Sunday.
Espanyol climbed up to eighth with 47 points.
Atletico midfielder Koke fiercely criticised his side for their limp display, particularly in the second half.
"This performance is not fitting of Atletico, this was not what we are about, We weren't ourselves at any point in the game," he told reporters.
"They were far better than us in the second half, they were superior in every aspect, you cannot explain it any other way.
"The game was a real struggle for us, they played some great football and we had some good moments in the first half but didn't take advantage. We really lacked intensity in the second half and the way we conceded the second goal was awful."

Klopp, whose side are currently second on goal difference in the Premier League behind Manchester City, said he thought Friend realised he should have ruled out Sadio Mane's 22nd-minute opener as James Milner was clearly offside in the build-up and tried to make up for it over the remainder of the game.
"Jurgen Klopp has been fined Â£45,000 after accepting an FA charge for comments made following Liverpool's league game against West Ham United on Feb 4, 2019," the FA said in a statement.
"His comments made during a post-match interview breached FA Rule E3(1), as they questioned the integrity of the match referee and/or implied bias."
In December, Klopp was fined Â£8,000 after he charged onto the pitch to hug goalkeeper Alisson Becker following his side's late derby win against Everton at Anfield.

MANCHESTER, United Kingdom (AFP) - Marcus Rashford has a claim to being the best striker currently playing in the Premier League as Harry Kane recovers from injury, Manchester United caretaker-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested.
Rashford marked his 150th appearance for United with an outstanding goal as they defeated Brighton 2-1 in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Saturday (Jan 19).
England forward Rashford's 41st goal for the club came six days after he scored the winner against Kane's Tottenham at Wembley, and he now has seven goals in his past 10 appearances in all competitions.
England captain Kane damaged ankle ligaments against United, and is not expected to return to training until early March.
Solskjaer implied Kane, when fit, is the best centre-forward in England's top division, but suggested Rashford, 21, is increasingly showing his potential to be a top-class striker too.
"You can argue for many strikers but I'm glad he's in my team," said Solskjaer, himself a former United forward.
"Harry Kane's injured, so maybe that gives him (Rashford) a better chance to be the best at the moment.
"No one beats him on work-rate, no one beats him on attitude, and at the moment, he's very confident in front of goal."

'BEST FOOTBALL OF HIS CAREER'

The Norwegian added: "He finishes, he tries to shoot, he doesn't think twice about it. At the moment, I think he's playing the best football of his career."
United's win was their seventh in a row in all competitions, as Solskjaer became the first manager in the club's history to win his first six league matches in charge.
Their run has pushed them back into contention for a top-four finish, which would secure qualification for next season's Champions League.

However, despite going 2-0 up before half-time, with Rashford's goal following a Paul Pogba penalty, United endured a nervous finish after Pascal Gross scored for Brighton with 19 minutes left.
Solskjaer, appointed after United sacked Jose Mourinho, accepted the team were still a work in progress.
"We need to improve a few things," he said.
"Defensively, we need to find our shape better. We need to defend better with the ball.
"We were under the cosh, we were winning 2-1, so keep it away from the opposition, let them run.
"At times today, though, we played some fantastic football. We could have scored two or three in the second half."
Brighton, in 13th place, have won just one of their past eight league matches, but showed enough in defeat to suggest they have the quality required to stay clear of trouble.
Chris Hughton's south coast side are seven points clear of the relegation zone, and face Fulham, Watford and Burnley in their next three league fixtures, following next weekend's FA Cup fourth-round tie against West Brom.

'DISAPPOINTING GOALS'

Hughton was annoyed by the way Brighton conceded two goals at Old Trafford, full-back Gaetan Bong failing to stop Pogba's run before fouling him for the penalty, while Gross did not get close enough to prevent Rashford from making it 2-0.
The Brighton manager could also reflect on the fact that top-scorer Glenn Murray lashed a clear first-half chance wide, when they trailed by only one goal.
"We're playing against a Manchester United team in very good form at the moment," said Hughton.
"They're probably pressing higher, and they've got a really good momentum at the moment.
"That's why you know you've got to defend really well against them, and certainly not give away what I would regard as disappointing goals."
The Seagulls boss added: "But as with any team that want to press high with the energy that they do, there are areas to exploit."
